Setup a text box with some placeholders and formatted them.
Then duplicated the box on the same page to give two copies of the first XML file.
The merged the data into a new layout. The first record imports ok (2 copies of first XML file on same page).
The second record only imports the second XML file once. I end up with a empty text box showing only hard returns.
Any ideas on this strange behavior?
Also when trying to generate a new merge project Quark freezes and must be forced quit.
Using Quark 9.5 on Mac.

Crash report feature in 9.5 not working…
The Crash report feature in 9.5 is not working correctly. When Quark crashes the dialog box asks if you would like to send a report to Quark, but in the Crash Report section it says "Could not locate crash report"?

Pricing Structure of new App Studio
When will the pricing structure be announced? Is it similar to current App Studio model or will it be more like Adobe DPS solution where you pay for the number of downloads? This was a major point in the decision making process for going with Quark in the first place. The press release states current App Studio users will have the choice of staying with AVE-Publishing or switching. I'm about to publish the first issue of a multi-issue magazine and this is a critical timeline for us. I don't want to pay the App-License fee and then migrate in less than 30-days to a new system and of course I am going to want the latest, best software environment offered especially if the current App Studio (AVE) is being shelved.

Changing IP address of Server...
I have been running QLA on a virtual box running Windows server.
I've had a requirement to change the IP address of the Machine.
So, I changed the static IP of the PC, entered the new details for the licence file and downloaded.
However, when I start the server, It fails. I've noticed that the old IP address is still showing when the server window attempts to start....
I assumed that the config file was the licence itself??
I have checked the Mac address and IP settings and all good.
?????Assistance required.

Advice on Web Layout--and Help
Hi, boys and girls. Long time no see.
I'm going gung-ho and b*lls to the walls developing a site for myself that will hopefully develop a modest revenue stream for me. It's a comic community newszine, with some serious stuff as well. I just came off an AWFUL 3-month working experience using PAGEMAKER for a local newspaper (can you believe it?), and the program and boss were so horrible, I had to quit.
Anyway, for me, working in Quark is like putting on a beloved, comfortable sweatshirt, so although I have the free CS2 package like everyone now has, I still want to build my site in Quark, and eventually get back to learning more on Interactive Designer.
Here's my story:
1) The site is going to contain news stories and other items that will be updated WEEKLY. (The entire site comes out as a new issue each week.) I want prior weeks' stories available to the visitor via my News Archives, but does maintaining these week after week as their original pages make any sense? Like eventually, I'm going to have too many pages to effectively work within the layout, correct? (Not just text in these stories, but graphics as well.)
Should I repurpose old stories into PDFs instead, and link to those instead?
2) Exactly how do I link to a PDF? I still can't figure it out. I would just like to be able to export the page as PDF (removing any live links on the page)...have a text list with the name and fate of that story...and then a link which opens the PDF in a separate window.
Or do I have to create a separate page for news archives, PLACE all those PDFs on that page or converted to other format like JPEG (albeit needing reformatting), and use anchors? That sounds like a horrible way to work.

Quark 7.5 - There is no "Export to PDF" option
My option to export to PDF is missing. And it also will not allow me to import a PDF.
Any advice?

Hi,
Is it possible to export the final typeset newspaper into an RSS feed through QuarkXpress 9? All stories with headlines and body as a standard RSS feed which can be then ingested into any other CMS?

import a full book from .doc file!
Hello! i'm new and i need your help please!
I have a full book writed in word and i want to import it completely ( 400 pages)! First thing to do is to create a Master Page and then to import the .doc book? should i create the the 400 pages manually or Xpress will do it automaticallY

9.2.1 crashes quite a lot
I have 9.3.1.1 and it crashes daily, tho not every time, when I touch or create a gradient/linear blend.
Sometimes the file is rescued and sometimes not. The other 4 quarks in the office do not have this problem.

pdf scaling
Hi, when exporting to a pdf is there a way to scale the size of the page.... I'm doing some large posters and I'd like to output the page at 200%..... I think you used to be able to do this in version 7 by specifying page scaling when printing to a postscript, but as you cannot print to a postscript in version 9.5 I'm relying on page export to a pdf and I cannot find a setting for page scaling in that?

App Studio changes in QuarkXPress 9.5.1

in QuarkXPress 9.5.1 we added the following features for the new App Studio (HTML5-based):
- Export Size Optimizations (much smaller file sizes)
- Font Embedding (TrueType and OpenType)
- Add support for horizontal scroll areas (1 page in referenced layout only)
- Add "Open File" Enrichment in actions (for buttons)
- Multiple missing digital assets can now be updated
- Support for interactivity applied to anchored boxes

QuarkXpress 9.5 not compatible with FontExplorer
For those of you eagerly waiting to download QuarkXpress 9.5 (at least I was 
), this version of QuarkXpress is NOT compatible with the FontExplorer XTension. I already contacted Quark and the bug will be resolved in version 9.5.1.

Multiple XML content on same document page?
Hi. Is there any way of importing multiple XML files (parts list numbers in this case) into separate text boxes on the same page of the document?

RE 9.5.1 Update…
Very fast and smooth (please don't change that in the next dot release)… nice touch with the web tool palette… which disappears depending on what document type you have open… think this should just remain as part of the main tool palette though.

How good is the layout to website function?
I'm thinking of upgrading from QXP 8 to 9 mainly for the web function it has, but how good is it in reality? Web developers say it most likely pads out the code, makes it messy and therefore harder for SE's to trawl through it. I can't imagine it's as easy as designing a page, then at the touch of a button, hey presto, it's a working HTML page?? Or does it?
