Hi. At my place of work we are using Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 and we just recently upgraded to Quark Xpress Version 9.5.1. My place of occupation produces an advertisement paper every week consisting of display ads as well as text-only ads flowing in the columns. We do spreads in Quark with one page flowing to the next. If we have a 28 page paper, pages 14 & 15 we call the Center page. On only this spread, we straddle one large display ad to take up 1/2 of page 14 and 1/2 of page 15, leaving 3 columns on the left & right sides of the center ad for text ads. After the upgrade to Quark 9.5.1, we are having a new problem that I don't understand & I will try to explain it as best as I can:
With the center page on this spread, now the 3 columns to the LEFT of the ad are acting weird. When I try to select text in the first column, it selects text in the 3rd column. If I try to select text in the 2nd or 3rd column, it only selects text in the 1st column. I can no longer select any text I want when it comes to these 3 columns on the LEFT side of the center page Quark ad (the right side / page 15 columns of text are working just fine, as are the rest of the pages in the paper). This is the only page that is doing this. I went back a few issues (opening them up in the new 9.5.1 Quark even though they were created in the older version) and they are doing the same thing.
It seems that the problem is having one Quark ad STRADDLE 2 pages in a spread, and it's messing up the text to the left. The Quark ad we use as the center on this spread is a picture box and has a runaround of 3 point on all sides, as do every other ad we use in the paper. Seems like something minor, but we've done our Center page like this for decades so we REALLY need to find a solution!! Hope somebody out there can help me out....I sure would appreciate it!! Thanks so much for your time.
