My Quark 9 is stuck in the endless loop of setup assistant. It's been that way for two years. There is no phone number for help. My forum account refused to work. The password reset fails to send me an email. There is no search on the Quark website to help you find anything, so it took me 6 hours (and finally resorting to google) to find the supposed fix to this. I finally found the hidden link to the "Repair Permissions Tool"-- which won't let me download the tool because it says I HAVE NO ACCOUNT. (Funny, I had an account last year, when Quark first failed to help me with this problem.) So I make a NEW account. And go to download the tool with the new account. And it won't let me because it says I HAVE NO ACCOUNT. Now I have two accounts that won't let me access this tool. Then, after more hours of pain, I found a forum thread which recommends you delete your prefs file. But throwing away my Quark prefs file does not work either. It keeps opening up with the validation code still pre-filled. Where is it storing this stuff? Repairing permissions does not work. I can't reinstall because I've got no disc… I downloaded the software. I've had this problem since 2012, and got so frustrated I just stopped using the ridiculous thing. But now I want this software that I paid so much for to work.
I have wasted another 6 hours of my life on this. That's in addition to the countless hours spent in 2012.
I don't know what's more frustrating: the endless loop of setup assistant, or the endless failure loop of trying to find a way to fix it. It's a loop within a loop.
I have a Macbook Pro, running 10.7.5. Quark 9. Does anybody know what's wrong with the software? Does anyone know what's wrong with the website account/forum/download/login?
