I spent two hours on a 5 minute job.
I am using Quark 8.5. Apparently there was some update applied in the background because my color settings are screwed up, again.
I'm trying to print to our platesetter. I have tried the Quark Legacy and 7.0 input profiles. Been using the ussheetfedctd output profile. In the past my custom input and the sheetfed output profile worked fine.
File is a simple letterhead. Illustrator CS5 logo (spot PMS 450 and black), black is 100% K in Illustrator. Illustrator blacks set to both display and output accurately in Illustrator preferences. I've tried various input/outpu profiles and the black in the Illustrator is alway screened. The text in Quark is 100%K, the Illustrator black varies from 60% to 85% K depending on profile. It seems that when Quark gets a minor update in the background I have to reconfigure my color settings to get accurate output.
My work around to get this job done was to export a press level pdf. Then edit the black in the logo with Pitstop to 100%k and print from Acrobat.
I shouldn't have to do this. Ever since the upgrade to 8 I've been fighting color with imported art. What gives Quark? I've been with you since version 2 but if this keeps up for my business' sake I'm going to have to convert to that other program.
