As stated in Apple Events Scripting.pdf we should reach an AppleScript support by e-mail. But the message I've just sent generated a Mail Delivery System error. Is it possible to reach any AppleScript support since some sensitive scripts of mines are broken in ML?

No Print-Separations option?!?! - Quark 10
Surly this must be a mistake?
How can they just do away with the 'print separations' feature??
As a printer (and there is lots of us that use quark in the print industry) I'm absolutly stunned that they've binned off this.
Help!!! Quark Xpress 7 won't open at all!!!
QuarkXPress 9.5.4 Now Available
If you are a Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) user, please DO NOT install this update as it only supports Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks. Continue to use the previous 9.5.3.1 release.

News about QuarkXPress 9 on Mavericks
Hi all,
good news, we made a breakthrough in our analysis on how to support QuarkXPress 9 on OS X Mavericks.
We are now positive that we can support QuarkXPress 9 under Mavericks in an update that we will provide free of charge to all users of QuarkXPress 9. This will apply to both license types, activation based licenses as well as site licenses using QLA.
We expect to be able to release this update before the end of November. Until then please stay with your current version of OS X. Once we'll have a more definite date we'll let you know immediately.
Thanks
Matthias
Update: We just found out that by applying the fix we will not be able to support Leopard anymore. So the update for QuarkXPress 9 that supports Mavericks will require at least Snow Leopard. Of course Lion and Mountain Lion will work too.
Expandable PPD Manager / Profile Manager Windows
It has frustrated me since Quark 4 that Quark have never addressed (even in Quark 9 and Quark 10) the simple Mac user interface issue of an expandable window for both the PPD Manager and Profile Manager Windows.
In PPD Manager, you can see a maximum of 6 printer descriptions. There are obviously HUNDREDS in the list and it takes forever to scroll down through multiple sets of 6 to delete the ones we don't need.
In Profile Manager, the window is slightly bigger and allows for nearly 8 profiles from your ColorSync. Takes a while to scroll through to find which one you're after as well.
I usually had to go and dig into the relevant system folders to remove al the extraneous options above and update that way, but it's a pain.
Defensive upgrading
Trying to stay in business when operating systems and software are being upgraded around us can be problematic, as we've seen with the introduction of Mavericks and/or Quark 10.
With OS upgrades, it's possible to clone your boot drive, upgrade the OS on the clone and then see if everything works. It's even possible to stay ahead of the curve by joining the Apple Developer program and trying the pre-release operating systems on the clone.
A Quark "test drive" of a new version can also be run on the clone to test features and OS compatibility.
However, Quark has encouraged early adoption (i.e., purchase) of the new version by offering special, limited time pricing that's hard to resist. Of course, taking advantage of that doesn't mean forsaking earlier versions for production purposes while you test the new version, especially when the new version isn't backwards compatible with the old version. It does, however, mean purchasing and installing the new version before there's much of an opportunity to see what problems others are having, and using up a license in the process.
But there's a potential problem when testing compatibility with new OS versions. Having installed the new version of Quark, it would be carried over to the new partition as part of the cloning process, but what does running it on the cloned partition mean in terms of licensing? It's my understanding that a single-user license of QuarkXPress allows you to install the software on two computers for non-concurrent usage. It would seem that installing on a work partition and then cloning to a test partition in the same computer would need only one of the two licenses since a) it's the same computer and b) only one partition at a time can be booted from. If that's the case, then the testing of both OS and Quark versions in any combination can be accomplished on an ongoing basis.
But does it work that way in practice? Even Quark 10 updates done from within the program have gone through the serial number/authorization code process before Quark can be used and it's not at all clear if that, done on the clone, would use up the second license.
I remember a comment that "you only need to reactivate if XPress detects a change of hard drive, network card or logicboard. Restoring to the same hardware setup won't trigger activation." A clone to a different HD running on the same computer (e.g., another bay in a Mac Pro or a connected external) would appear to trigger reactivation. What, if anything, would that do to the license for Quark on the work drive? And is there still a second license available for installation on a laptop?
damaged preferences file
When I tried to open a project I'm working on this morning,
I got a message box that said:
"The application preferences file is damaged.
Please remove it and relaunch QuarkXpress."
I don't know what this means, or what to do.
I do need to resume working as soon as possible,
I'm a graphic designer by trade.
Should I trash the whole application
and try re-installing it?
Can anyone help me. Thanks a lot.
QuarkXpress 10.0.1 Grayscale Images
Has anyone the same Problems?
If I create a new Grayscale-Image in Photoshop (just tried a gradient from white to black) and save it as a jpg. Throw this image into QuarkXpress 10.0.1 and create a PDF/X-1a:2001.
Now I open the created PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro and check the color values. I'm getting values in any color separation (CMYK) and not the normal grayscale image only on the K.
With this issue alone QuarkXpress 10.0.1 is for me unusable because my work depends heavy on grayscale images.
Everything is getting more worse, if you write text on the dark part of that image with drop shadow or work with transparency …..
Also I have Problems with opening QuarkXpress 8 files in QuarkXpress 10. Most of the images are not placed properly.
I slowly regret, that I bought an upgrade from 8 to 10 without the option "buy 9 get 10 free". I really thought I wouldn't need it… :) :) :D
So I'm now stuck with version 8 and OS X 10.8.5
Is there any way to get a Validation Code for Version 9 if you own QuarkXpress 8 and 10 without having to buy it separately… :)
Sorry for my bad English… ;)
Things I cannot do with Quark and Mavericks
Quark 9.5.3.1, Windows 7, 64-bit crashes when saving
We are having a problem saving Quark 9 files on our Windows 7, 64-bit computers while connected to our company's network, even when saving to our own C Drives. Quark works fine and saves fine when we are not connected. When our company gives us full administrative rights, we are able to save. However, this is not a viable solution since we are users and not administrators.
When we try to save a file, we get the following message: "QuarkXpress 9.5.3.1r0 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
While working with our IT department, we isolated the following error:

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to resolve our issue aside from staying off the network or applying full administrative rights?
10.0.1 image quality
I know that Quark invested time, effort and expense to the new graphics rendering in version 10. I appreciate that.
In the screen shots below, one is in version 9, the other in version 10. I am using the Windows version (on Windows 8.1, 64-bit). Even with the color quality issues as demonstrated below, I could live with this difference. I could even live with the difference in the display quality difference. The difference in moving about with high-res images is harder to accept—though 10 is improving with its updates and hopefully will at least achieve performance on par with version 9.
But at the moment I feel like the new rendering is a step backwards.I belive the display color is more accurate in v9. I believe the display quality is better in v9. The screen shots below are at a zoom level of 350% and version 9 is set to Full Resolution. But even with version 9 set to Low Resolution, at zoom levels 275% and below, the image quality is a non-issue.
In version 9, even with every image set to Full Resolution, the speed of editing and moving around is far greater than in version 10. I have faith version 10 will get better in these areas as updates are issued. I just hope it is sooner than later.
Mike
Opinions on the 9.5.4 update?
QuarkXPress on OS X Mavericks
Hi all,
as you all know, yesterday Apple has announced the next version of OS X, OS X Mavericks, to ship in fall.
We're not anticipating a large effort to support QuarkXPress 10 running on OS X Mavericks and expect support within 90 days of the new OS's availability.
As we've done a lot of work modernising QuarkXPress 10 inside and out, this will enable us to more immediately take advantage of new Mac OS X features.
It's a little early to talk specifics but as an example it's likely we'll get to leverage the multi-display support through our new full screen functionality and our ePub export will be certified for iBooks on OS X.
Whether QuarkXPress 9 will support OS X Mavericks is currently unknown, the good news are that if you upgrade today to QuarkXPress 9 you will get QuarkXPress 10 for free.
Please see also here: http://forums.quark.com/p/21811/88027.aspx#88027
And of course QuarkXPress 10 will also run on Lion and Mountain Lion.
Regards
Matthias
EDIT: Please note that the offer I was referring to ("Buy 9 Get 10 for free") and which was valid at the time of posting, has now ended.
