Just updated one of our machines to latest version of quark from 7.5 to test the water as regards usefulness in the flexographic printing trade. Was horrified to find out that quark is dismissing the use of in host plate separations in future versions (I have the workaround xml file to open it back up in this version 9). It is a tool which is needed by the industry as we run our own templates complete with bearers (in registration colours) on all our film outputs. So without in host seps we would be stuck with running process films out along with our pantone seps whether we need them or not - bad move.
Also, what happened to the implementation of expert tools flexo output scaling in the print dialogue box? Will it be reintroduced or are we to be ignored as a section of the printing trade, which will ultimately lead to our crossing over to other design programs. Please, if there is anyone here from Quark, reconsider both of the above requests and let's have some investment in what is, after all, a significant printing industry.
