I am in the process of upgrading from 6.52 for windows to either 8.5 or 9.5, unfortunately I am having a problem getting right tab stops, option-tab, and/or right justify to work the same way. Below is an example of a typical index page that uses an option-tab between the name and the page numbers. The paragraph is setup with right tab beyond the right hand margin and will a "." fill character. As you can see the tab is expanded to left-justify the name, right-justify the page numbers, and fill any space in between the two with the fill character. You will also notice that the "Smith, Samuel" paragraph is a multi-line paragraph, but the tab is still expanded and the fill character is visible.
version 6.52
Smith, James.....................5, 6
Smith, Samuel....1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7,
15, 16, 18
Smith, Xavier......................5, 6
When I setup this type of paragraph in either version 8.5 or 9.5 the tab character does not expand in any multi-line paragraph. Using the same example as above, the "Smith, Samuel" paragraph ignores the option-tab and left-justifies the entire first line. I have tried as many alternatives as I can think of, right-justify, force justify, all the different H&J options, etc. The only "fix" that seems to work is by inserting a soft-return at the line break after the "7, ", but that is not a feasible option for me.
version 8.5 or 9.5
Smith, James.....................5, 6
Smith, Samuel1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7,
15, 16, 18
Smith, Xavier......................5, 6
This can be easily duplicated as follows :
create a new project with 3 or more columns
add some text, insert an option-tab, add some more text in the form 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc
add a right-tab stop to the paragraph at the right hand margin position and with a "." fill character
then add some more text to force the paragraph to have multiple lines
and for me anyway, the tab character will not expand as expected.
any help with this is greatly appreciated, thanks.
