Hi,
This is a very newbie question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I've never used QuarkXPress before. We received a client book that needs to have many edits and updates throughout. They made it on Quark MAC. It says version 6.0.
We have QuarkXpress 10 for Windows. I took her file (that was .dat and renamed the extension to .qxp). It tells me that the mac system fonts (helvetica, zapf, etc.) aren't there, and I hit continue because it still allows me to edit without changing the fonts.
The problem is that this is a large book with many pages. When I add a couple of lines of text in one page, a red box with an X will appear in the lower left corner of the text box showing that there is text overflow. I can't get it to just go to the next page. Unfortunately, I can't link the text boxes together because they have existing text in them (error 47). It's not as simple as just creating a blank text box and cut and pasting... There are different sections of this book spanning across many pages that need to have revisions, additions, and removal. For example, page 134-171 all have their own text boxes, so it would be impossible to try to cut and paste and rearrange every thing over and over and over again.
I looked everywhere and can't find a solution, but this seems to be such a simple task... I mean people get documents from clients all the time to make revisions... are you telling me that every single page in an entire book has its own text box and can't be linked? I saw something called Linkster that might be used for this, but every time I try to use the Linkster extension, Quark crashes. There is no way around this, and google searching the fault codes that show up in Windows Event Viewer don't yield any results. Is there really no way around this? I have no idea how to make any revisions when the text won't overflow to the next page.
