Print dialogue box delay

I am running Quark 9.1 on Windows 7, having recently had a PC and server upgrade.

Since reinstalling Quark on the new PC, there are unacceptably long delays in getting the print dialogue box to open. The files i am trying to print from were made in 9.1 on my old PC.

As far as I'm aware, the images are still located on the same address path as they were originally, as the new server was set up to retain the existing names/locations. However, i don't mind admitting that my knowledge on the more techy side of things is reasonably vague. What i will say is that under the Usage tab, the files aren't showing as missing, or needing updating, they are showing as 'OK'.

Now, I'm pretty sure I've had this issue in the past, when upgrading to a new version of Quark, and resolved it by creating a new file, and then going to thumbnail mode, and dragging the pages over to the new document. However, I've tried that with these files, and I'm still getting the problem when i go to File/Print or press ctrl+p: it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 mins to bring the print dialogue box up, and in the mean while Quark shows a '(not responding)' message after the file name in the top left hand corner - pressing Esc doesn't stop the process when I've given up waiting and want to finish something else off.

Finally, i know when the dialogue box is about to come up, because another screen will overlay itself on top of quark (for example, if i have another document open, like excel, it will appear, and i have to minimise that, and hey presto, quark is sitting underneath with the dialogue box sitting there mocking me, as if to say 'hey, where you been? I've been waiting ages!'). Ahem.

Please help. This is, as you can see, driving me quite mad, especially when print proofing a magazine in sections.

Other info: I think my IT guys mentioned that i'm running 32 and 64 bit. (due to something to do with Java and some other programmes) This is for a monthly publication, and so I have a 'template' quark file which is set up with all the basic elements in it. I did the 'new file, thumbnail drag' on this, and saved it as my new template file to work from, and it did solve the problem. I open this file and 'save as' to make the next month. However, the printing issue returned about half way though setting. I can't tell if it started once i started to add in images, but i suspect it did.
