Hi all,
I currently use Quark 5 to type set vehicle data for print. The vehicle data is copied and pasted in from an excel spreadsheet into a Quark template. As you will see from the image links below, I bold the top line of each vehicle (using a simple character style sheet short cut) but obviously if I have 250 cars I have to click my louse 3 times on each top line to highlight it before appying the bold style.
Below each lot number some vehicles have a 'Q' however some don't, in order to format this and get the Q to move to the next line I simply do a find and replace, which also removes the unwanted rule line beneath each model name e.g. '3 FE58KHX R52 MINI One Sidewalk Convertible'. A find and replace is also used to move the OCN£ figure down to the next line as well. However to get the text to move in line with the start of the model name I have to manually tab the text which is very time consuming when you have 250 cars that are laden with infiormation
In the example the text in blue shows how I manually tab text to get it to the end result. The text in black shows the raw data pasted in from Excel. I have also included the format box which shows the indents, tabs and also a rule that is in place to separate each lot.
I am trying to decide if conditional formatting would help me and also is it complex enough to be able to tab the text as per the blue examples. I have downloaded a trial Quark 10 but I am struggling to get it to work.
Does anyone have the knowledge and experience to advise or write a condititional format exmaple so I could try on my trial version. Ideally I need to make this manual time consuming task cut short as it takes up far too many man hours and also requires further proofing to ensure that it has been tabbed out correctly.
Any help would be grately apreciated. Just so you are aware I am self taught in Quark.
