Today, suddenly, many of my fonts will not print out (on my own printer), and many of them will not even show up on screen in QuarkXPress. About 50% of the fonts seem to suddenly have this problem, only in Quark.
I first noticed this today in some files that I print out on a regular basis. Two of the three fonts in the file suddenly just did not print out today. I tried switching those fonts to something different, about 50% of my overall fonts will print out, the rest have the same problem. Some of the problem fonts also show up as invisible on my screen. Some of the many fonts with the issue are Akzidenz-Grotesk BQ, Adobe Garamond Pro, Gill Sans, etc, and all of them I've used just fine in QuarkXPress very recently.
Using these exact files (with these same fonts), I printed out perfectly for over a year and even just printed them out last night, but today there is a problem with a ton of fonts in Quark. Nothing was changed with my fonts or with quark.
- I also already tried deleting the font cache in Windows (located in c:\windows\system32\FNTCACHE.DAT) with no change.
- Tried rebooting the computer and QuarkXPress, no change.
- I tried creating a new project. Same issue in the new files, so it appears this is suddenly a QuarkXPress program-wide issue
- Exporting to a PDF seems to work fine, even if the font was invisible on screen!
- I did do a Windows system update last night, but they were all listed as security updates and were successful.
- For the problem fonts, it seems they show up on screen okay until they are 16pt or larger. Regardless if these show up on screen, they still won't print.
Is there an internal QuarkXPress font cache (or something similar) that might have gotten corrupted in the past day somehow? Anything else that might have caused this or anything else to try? Thanks for any help!
